We’re turning our spotlight on some of our favourite restaurants in Plymouth
At Taste Buds magazine, we provide our readers and subscribers with great features and reviews of all things food in Devon. We’re turning our spotlight on some of our favourite places to eat in Plymouth. The city has a rich history as a trading port, and continues to bring in plenty of fresh fish and shellfish, which can be bought directly from merchants at the Fisheries. Read on to find out more about where you can experience top quality, seasonal produce in some of Plymouth’s restaurants.
For something a bit different, head to PL1 Restaurant, run by hospitality students under the expert tuition of catering professionals. Boasting a local, seasonal menu, and an excellent reputation, many of the vegetables are grown in the restaurant’s garden. With a buzzing atmosphere, it is like a canteen, but classier. Serving traditional British and European dishes to a high standard, it is ideal if you’re looking for a good value dining in Plymouth. See the full review on our website.
For unpretentious, high-quality contemporary dining, The Greedy Goose is a relatively new restaurant with food from MasterChef quarter finalist, Ben Palmer. Eager to make an impression, the dishes are innovative and interestingly presented, with quirky touches such as the amuse bouche served in a kilner jar. It offers a variety of different menus, including taster menus, and special lunch and early evening deals. Discover more about The Greedy Goose in our full review.
Situated in the luxurious surroundings of Boringdon Hall Hotel, this restaurant offers fine dining of an exceptional standard, whether you’re a hotel guest or not. It offers an intimate experience within a range of different spaces around the Hotel, and is perfect for special occasions. It’s grand interior is castle-like and classical music heightens the ambience. Its cuisine includes both traditionally British and European dishes, as well as those from further afield. Find out more about the food in our full review.
The restaurant at Otter Garden Centre is a perfect combination of quality cuisine served in a comfortable atmosphere. Perfect for casual dining, you might be tempted by the classic haddock and chips, served in a light ale-batter, and presented on a newspaper replica. Its wide menu includes everything from a full-blown meal, light snack, or sweet treat. Find out more in our full review.
