Chocolate Cravings

Our selection of chocolate companies in Devon have the wow factor whether you want to impress someone or feel tempted yourself

Barbers Cocoa, Kingsteignton

Barbers Cocoa lightly roasts its beans to preserve their natural goodness. This gives its chocolate a fruitiness. Whole milk powder and golden cane sugar are then added to give a rich, melt-in-the-mouth creaminess. Its products include bars, hot chocolate, cocoa tea, Easter eggs, and some vegan options too.

The planet-saving philosophy at Barbers Cocoa means that all packaging is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. Its bags are made of wood tree sap and completely biodegrade. Tubes are made of 80% recyclable material and are 100% biodegradable, and best of all, the cocoa beans are picked from organic, Fairtrade farms.

Exe Chocolate, Exeter

Owner Nicola Knight makes all her chocolate at home in her kitchen using small machines, but that doesn’t stop her from creating excellent chocolate. It is made in micro-batches of 2kg or less, with great care taken at every step to nurture and bring out the flavour of the beans.

The process begins with sourcing top quality cacao. Flavour is always at the forefront of Nicola’s decision making and she uses her experience with chocolate tasting and cacao evaluation to select the best beans that offer an outstanding flavour profile.

Lloyd and James Chocolate, Torquay

Chocolate is created here using the finest ingredients to produce a variety of products from truffles, ganache and pralines, to bars and novelty items. All the chocolate is tempered on-site by chocolatiers and crafted by hand.

The fillings use fresh, ethically-sourced ingredients (which are locally-sourced where possible), as well as natural flavourings.

Chocella, Brixham

Chocella has developed a range of delicious award-winning chocolates. Choose from chocolate hampers, bars, and a range of handcrafted chocolates and truffles.

The company works hard to collaborate with local businesses and initiatives, aiming to source locally and be as sustainable as possible, while ensuring a high standard.

Choc-O-Lait, Clyst St Mary

Choc-O-Lait sticks are hot chocolate stirrers – a wooden stick or spoon with a cube of Belgian Callebaut chocolate on the end. Select a flavour, slowly stir into hot milk for one minute until melted, then relax and enjoy a luxury hot chocolate.

Choose from six hot chocolate stick flavours and three on a spoon. Chocolate sticks are supplied in boxes of 24, with spoons currently available in boxes of 48. The dark hot chocolate spoon is vegan-friendly.
