Taste Buds talks to Claire Kuyuate, buyer for the Food Shop and the Kitchen Shop at The Shops at Dartington
What is your foodie inspiration?
To see the huge growth of foods grown and produced in Devon.
What three items are a must-buy from your shop?
The Shops at Dartington's Sweet Garlic Pickle. I will be trying to eat healthily this New Year with lots of salads, and this will spice up any greens, plus a whole array of food. Again, trying to be sensible after the excesses of the festive season, Tideford's Supergreen Soup is a winner. An indulgent treat, however, has to be a piece of our new range of popular crumbly organic fudge, especially the ginger.
What can a visitor expect?
In a rural setting on the edge of the picturesque Dartington Hall Estate, The Shops at Dartington are in what were once farm buildings. Our very large Food Shop offers a vast assortment of food and drinks that are mainly sourced from Devon, and colourful, quirky but practical items are on offer in the Kitchen Shop, all of which is supported by friendly service from the team.
Anything new on the shelves?
There are lots of lovely new cakes, including a salted caramel cheesecake, as well as the expansion of our gluten-free ranges. There are more cheeses, too, such as Sharpham Savour and Black Cow vodka cheese.
Any special offers/events this New Year?
We're giving away a free cotton shopping bag when you purchase a four-bottle pack of Dartington Elmhirst Ale or Dartington Organic Cider.
