Dartington's Food Fair returns on 27 and 28 May for its eighth year
27 - 28 May 2018
Hosted by The Shops at Dartington, set in the idyllic grounds of the Dartington Estate, this two-day event attracts thousands of food-lovers as they visit to find the region’s finest food and drink.
This free event offers exceptional food and drink, all produced in the South West, alongside cookery demonstrations from local chefs and food producers. There will be family-friendly workshop activities, regional drinks, street food and live music to swing into the summer season. With over 50 food and drink stalls under marquee, visitors will be protected against the elements as they graze from stand to stand.
There will be plenty of activities for both adults and children, including magic shows, face painting, pot-throwing, storytelling, craft activities and live animals to meet.
For the first time this year, The Shops at Dartington will also host the Mud Larks Fun Run — an obstacle course set through the grounds for families to get muddy while raising money for Plymouth Charity, Unity Through Sport. Consisting of a 3km course — run twice by those feeling truly mighty — it includes a 500-foot zipline, 40-foot abseil, running through mud, navigating tyres, taking part in a dry kayak hill climb, and there’s archery thrown in too.
This year will see the next batch of Elmhirst Gin being distilled, made exclusively for The Shops at Dartington, and a brand-new permanent distillery is being introduced within the Food Hall. In partnership with Devon Distillery, the new copper still will produce The Shops at Dartington’s signature bottle of Elmhirst Gin. It will be capable of producing other contract gins, as well as spirits at a later date. The distillery is running a boutique gin experience, enabling small classes to learn the process of making gin.
The 15 shops on the site are also open, providing seasonal food and drink tastings, home decoration ideas and unique gifts.
